Angel watched the three teenagers dancing together near the edge of the crowded dance floor. The two
brunet boys danced jerkily on either side of the bouncing redheaded girl.
They looked young and vital and…free.
Angel wondered what that was like.
He watched one of the boys, the really skinny one, cast a longing look at a busty princess type dancing
with an obvious athlete across the room. He also saw the longing glance the redhead shot towards the
other boy, the one with the big eyes, who was oblivious to her adoration. He was too busy watching the
other boy watch the princess.
Interesting dynamic there. It seemed youth wasn’t completely without cares or angst.
He heard the redhead remind the thin brunet that his parents were picking them both up outside five
minutes ago. They asked the other boy if he needed a ride and he shook his head. They shrugged and
left him standing there after a few quick hugs.
Doe-eyed boy wandered back to the table they’d had earlier and sat down to sip on his soda.
Xander sighed as he sipped his soda, a little depressed to realize that he had a crush on his best friend,
who had a crush on the school snob. He took some comfort in the fact that at least it was just a crush he
had and not deep love feelings. Maybe he would meet someone who could inspire deep love feelings.
He was startled when he felt someone run into his shoulder.
“Oh sorry, are you okay?” The tall, dark, and yummy man asked.
“What? Uh…yeah, I’m fine,” Xander replied.
“Oh, good. I’m Angel, by the way,” the man offered with a smile.
“Xander, that’s me,” he said a little too eagerly.
“It’s pretty crowded in here, can I sit with you?”
“Sure, my friends had to leave, so it’s just me here with all these chairs,” Xander said with a shy grin.
As Angel sat, Xander thought to himself, Now this has definite deep feeling possibilities.
As Angel sat down, he thought to himself, Maybe hanging out and waiting for the Slayer to show up won’
t be so bad after all; this town has definite possibilities.
